Cut Out Sugar Cookies

4 cups sifted flour

2 tsp baking powder

1.5 cups sugar

2 eggs

3/4 cup butter

2 tsp vanilla

In a bowl mix together flour and baking powder.  In a mixer beat beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.  Add eggs and vanilla.  Mix in flour mixture 1/3 at a time to form a stiff dough.  Divide into 4 large balls.  Wrap in wax paper and refrigerate for a few hours.  This will make rolling the dough easier.  When ready cut off a piece of dough and roll to desired thickness.  Cut with fancy shapes and bake at 350 until lightly browned.  A tip for rolling is to use a silpat on the counter and place a sheet of wax paper on top or dust with powdered sugar to roll easily.
