Impossible Lasagna Pie

So this is a classic from my mother and her side of the family.  It's not lasagna, it doesn't resemble lasagna, there are no noodles, but its a good quick casserole meal.

2 lbs ground beef

2 onions diced

1 large can tomato paste

1 tub cottage cheese (16 oz or larger)

1 cup grated parmesan or asiago

1 cup shredded mozzarella

11/3 cup milk

3 eggs

1 cup bisquick

salt, pepper, basil to your liking

Heat oven to 400.  In a pan saute pan cook beef and onions until beef is no longer pink.  Drain all the grease and return to pan.  Mix in tomato paste until evenly melted amongst beef and onions.  Spray a lasagna pan (9x13) with oil and cover the bottom with the cottage cheese, sprinkle with parmesan.  Next spread the meat mixture evenly over the cheese.  Beat the milk, eggs, bisquick, salt pepper until smooth and pour over meat layer.  Sprinkle with more parmesan and half of the mozzarella.  Bake 45 minutes or so until golden brown, a bit longer wont hurt.  remove from over, cover with the remaining mozzarella and let stand about 10 minutes.  The longer it sits the better it will set up.
